Yo Khoanh says the Mnong word for tortoise, “kuôp”. Tortoise are one of the modeled decoration that can be made on flat-bottomed jars (“yang”). The “yang” made in Yang Tao village imitate larger products imported from elsewhere. The potter also imitate the decoration without knowing the meaning of the animals.
