Carding bow

A carding bow at the Kurdish Textile Museum. The wooden piece that accompanies the bow is called 'Kutik' which is used by the carder to create vibration in the string on the bow. The bow is left in what was used to be a workshop for reviving Kurdish textile craft. The bow was used to card cotton and wool before carding machine was introduced in 1960s-1970s. The museum is privately owned by Lolan Mstafa. Due to his long years of collecting Kurdish textile and artefacts, he was able to open the muesum in 2004.
