A detail image of a dyed kamiko haori in the personal collection of Fumiko Satō. This kamiko features a stripe/plaid motif, embossed using techniques developed in Shiroishi called takuhon. This haori was made by a member of the Satō family and you can see that the outer shell is paper, while the inner lining is conventional fabric, and is stained (likely silk or cotton)
