Builder Kwaku Nsuah uses a long-handled tool with a blade mounted on its end to dig a post hole into which a vertical post of a wattle frame will be placed. The corner posts of the structure and the central roof joist are in place. Long poles have been laid on the ground along the length and width of the wattle frame. These abut the corner posts and serve as guides for placement of the post holes. In the lower foreground (right) is a pit created by digging earth used in the building of a nearby coursed earth atakpame structure. Banda-Ahenkro, Banda District, Ghana.
