At the Bekkabō (別火坊), which is on the grounds of Tōdaiji Temple, monks at Tōdaiji prepare sheets of senka-shi (washi paper of a specific size) by wrinkling them and applying agar agar to strengthen them. These sheets will be pasted together as a roll, then used to create the paper kamiko kimono to be worn during a specific set of rituals performed annually
