Food-gathering basket

Download (34.52 MB)
Among the Chabu, basketwork is a male work. A Chabu man cuts with a knife the fibre of a vine (konko) tied to a pole in order to straighten it. In this way he prepares the weaving material on a structure of three crossed tree branches (qonda) tied to another circular branch that forms the rim for a basket (kante).
