The pots are fired in an open fire. The potter has placed the pots on a platform made of firewood and covered everything with wood in a teepee shape. Ma Ly is now lighting up the using straw on the side where the wind blows, to help the fire spead all around the structure. Because the wind is blowing, Ma Ly protects the fire with her hat.
