Making jars (yang) in Yang Tao village : Preparing the clay

Mai Khanh is pounding the clay on a wooden support (pal) with a wooden pole (ne), traditionally a mortar and pestle. She does it to help her mother, Yo Khoanh who is gathers the clay back to the center of the support. Because Yo Khoanh intends to make a really big jar, there is more clay than usual. In the background, Mai Kim is doing the same on the floor, showing that this is an alternative for them to prepare the clay.
