Manufacture and placement of a beehive or dana

Download (77.62 MB)
A half log is carved with a digging stick so as to create the interior of a beehive. The process ends with the creation of two canoe-shaped log halves, which will be joined together to create a long hollow wooden cylinder that will be the body of the beehive. In Chabui, the inner space is called boqumbat dana and the outer body shäk dana. The beehive has a closed end and a mouth called daneshee, which works as the entrance for the bees.
