Boat builder Manimohan Mondal lays an iron mould—already bent to capture the curve of the hull—onto an acacia timber for marking up with a pencil. He will be able to make several half-frames from this timber. The small yellow string tied around the rod indicates the point of the sheer line, and hence the upper end of the required timber.
