Nails fixing a garboard plank

At the stem and stern head, nails are used to secure the garboard planks. Meanwhile, this outboard view shows the configuration of the ropes holding the fulcrum of the plank-fitting levers in place. The ropes loop around a static anchoring timber on the unseen side.
