A paper haori in the collection of Fumiko Satō. The paper was embossed/printed using the takuhon technique with an ivy motif (蔦), and then dyed with walnut dye, while the presumably silk lining has been dyed with indigo. This was made by a family member in the early to mid 20th-century. THese shiny, hardened spots are likely konnyaku that has lasted over the years. Overall, the garment has softened greatly with time and through use (including wear, and removing from the archive to show visitors, or lending it for a display). These spots, however, are likely residue from a thick application of konnyaku to the garment. It may have even been re-applied after some wear and tear
