Paper prepared for kamiko

Paper prepared for kamiko (in a re-purposed package for silk). This paper is handmade washi paper made by artisans from various locations in Japan. The paper is wrinkled and treated with agar agar by monks at Tōdaiji, then attached together on a roll. Each monk prepares the paper for their own kimono, and finds someone to stitch the kimono for them using the paper cloth they have prepared. As the paper preparation is part of the annual series of rituals, these will be worn the following year.
