Ewe fisherman Maxwell Gbadago (left) pulls on the first woven row (exa nyɛ nyɛ) of the body of a basketry fish (exa), stretching it before securing its end between two bamboo (pamplo ti) pegs. Dzobo Sebastian stands with his feet on the other end of the trap body, where it has been secured to the ground with two bamboo pegs. Lying on the ground to the right of the trap is a pile of bamboo pegs, which they will place at intervals to secure the trap to the ground. Behind the log are bundles of twisted dried vine (adzɔ) that will be processed into rope (adzɔ ƒoƒo). A folded blue fish net lies on the ground in the background. Akanyakrom, Banda District, Ghana.
