Post-firing of the pots in Kon Tơ Xing village : Splashing the pots 1/3

Before the firing, Y Gah has prepared a mixture for the post-firing process, with the flesh of a tree called tơnung, soaked in water for around 1h. The water has taken a reddish colour. When the pots are cooked, Y Gah takes them out of the fire using a stick. Then, she takes a large piece of tree flesh from the dye and uses it to splash the bark infused water on the pot. She makes sure that every part of the pot has been splashed with water. When she is done, she puts the pot back into the fire, until the fire dies out. This post-firing process gives the pot its black colour. The splashes can still be seen on the objects.
