Pottery post-firing process in Krăngọ village 2/4

Ma Ly has fired the pots until they glow red. She takes them between two sticks and removes them from the fire and buries them immediately in a pile of rice husks. This gives the pot its black colour. If the pot (or part of it) is taken out of the fire too early and does not glow red when it is placed in the husk, it will remain red/brown. In this case, the potter can put it back in the fire until it glows red, and then put it back in the husk to even out the colour. However, Ma Ly sometimes just leaves the color uneven.
