The wheel is called cái bàn xoay (lit. Object table to revolve) or cái bàn quay (lit. Object table to urn). The upper plate of the wheel is made of wood. It is fixed on a metallic stool. The metallic pivot creates less friction than the traditional wooden pivot. The potter set the wheel in motion only with their left hand. Those are used to shape the small pots.
