Pounding clay in Ki’Nonh village 1/2

Hốih Tiến, Zơrâm Thị Nga and Hà Thị Sương are pounding the clay one a flat stone in the village using pestles. Hốih Tiến, Zơrâm Thị Nga are using pestle newly made for the purpose of our documentation, while Hà Thị Sương uses a traditional pestle lend by an old lady from the village. The action of pounding clay is called “klo” and the pestle is called “andré”. They will pound the clay ntil soft and smooth. Water can be sprayed on the clay to help the process. In the past, although they would each pound their own clay, potters could share the same pounding surface with 1 or 2 other potters.
