Preforming on leather hard clay of the bottom of a small cooking pot in Ki’Nonh village 2/4

When the pot is dry enough to be handled without losing its shape, the form has to be perfected.After roughly scraping the outside of the pot to round the bottom. The potter Bling Thị Thuáh scrapes the inside of the pots with a tool made out of a slice of bamboo with both ends attached together to form a circle, called “kơté”. With her right hand inside of the pot, she uses the kơté to scrape. Her left hand is on the outside to feel the thickness of the walls. With this action, she takes out clay to thin out the walls and make the pot lighter. This also helps pushing the form out to round the walls and bottom.
