Raffia strands along the active weaving edge of a raffia mat

Tied to a raffia palm (gbandaa) petiole stick, raffia strands (pinde) extend alternately inward (A, C, E) and outward (B, D, F) along the active working edge of an in-progress raffia mat (dɛŋglɛ).
