The potter has to thin the walls of the cooking pot. Before doing so, she makes a few ajustement on the outer shape of the bottom. She uses a slice of bamboo with both ends tied together to form a circle called a "kơnur" to scrape out some irregularities. The kơnur that she uses is extremely thin. This is because it is an old one that has been used many times. As the pot is still quite soft, this kơnur is suitable for the rectifications as its blunt edges will not scrape off too much clay or make deep mark on the surface.
