The potter, Võ Thị Sương, is roughing out the body of the pot by squashing a coil on her left hand on the edge of the bottom. She just finished the first round. This step of the process is the same for all types of the final product.

Temporality

This steps comes right after the roughing out of the bottom. The potter then smooths the inside and evens the thickness of the wall with her thumb and index. Then, if it’s a small pot she will start the roughing out of the mouth. If it is a bigger pot, she will add a second coil on top of this one.
