The potter is roughing out the bottom of the pot by rapping the clay patty, using the back of her wrist (right hand), while turning the wheel (left hand ; clockwise). Two turns are enough. In the meantime, her husband (Giang Ngọc Xanh) is kneading the clay. This step of the process is the same for all types of the final product.
