Ewe fishermen Dzobo Reuben (right) and Dzobo Sebastian (left) stand as they tie in place a fan-shaped bamboo cover (exa-dzi gbanu) over the triangular gap in the join of the basketry fish trap (exa). This cover can be removed to allow access to the inside of the trap when needed. The trap lies on its side with its knotted join line (exa-dzi ka) facing upward. Looking at the trap apex (exa-gɔmɛ), the bundling of sticks (first two, then four, then eight) in woven rows 9 to 11 through which the apex was formed is visible. Akanyakrom, Banda District, Ghana.
