This sleeping mattress was found in one of the destroyed houses in the centre of Sinjar. People used wool not only for felt but also they made sleeping mattresses, pillows and cushines. Wool was used as a filler for the mattresses, cushines and pillows. They were all made by hand and mostly by women. Wool was everywhere in Sinjar, on the streets in the destroyed houses and even on the roofs where people usually dry washed wool. The destruction brought by the so called 'Islamic State' in 2014 has had devestating impact on the culture of people in Sinjar.
