Nafana mat weaver (deŋglɛ tinfun) Alexander Owusu holds the working edge of an in-progress raffia mat (dɛŋglɛ) as he prepares to start weaving a third pass. The mat is tied to a raffia petiole stick (gbandaa kaan), which stabilizes the working edge as he weaves onward. Raffia strands (pinde) lie in alternating outward and inward sides of the working edge. Description reference: Table 3, No. 1 in "Making of a Raffia Palm Mat (Dɛŋglɛ), Sabiye, Banda District, Bono Region, Ghana." Sabiye, Banda District, Ghana.
