Tōdaiji monk making momigami. The paper is compressed firmly around the rod. After compressing the paper in one direction, it is then flipped 90 degrees to add wrinkles in the perpendicular direction. This second time, thin paper such as gampi paper is added in order to support the paper. This is done 5-6 times
