The domestic space of the compound or pätärje

Download (34.52 MB)
Each Opo compound has a sunny area, where the structures for humans and animals are located, and a shaded area under one or two trees (usicha). The latter is an important activity area during the sunny hours where one can eat, rest or receive neighbours, but it is also a place where women carry out a multitude of activities, such as grinding or hanging clothes.
