Using a log as an anvil, Ewe fisherman Maxwell Gbadago makes a diagonal cut with a cutlass (ɛyi) across the end of a bamboo (pamplo ti) peg, which will be used to anchor the first woven row of a basketry fish trap (exa) body as additional rows are woven. Several finished pegs lie on the ground next to the log. Akanyakrom, Banda District, Ghana.
