Seated on a low stool, Ewe fisherman Dzobo Sebastian uses a knife (ɛhɛ) to trim the edges of a bamboo (pamplo ti) stick that he will use in making a basketry fish trap (exa). He secures the stick between the first and second toes of his right foot while using an upward stroke of his knife to smooth and thin the stick. Debris from trimming sticks lies to his right and a pile of finished sticks is to his left. To his left, a man sits atop a long, blue folded fishing net as he mends it.
