Boat builder Manimohan Mondal uses a bendable iron rod as a mould to take the curve of the hull amidships; the mould will be used to transfer the curve to an acacia timber for cutting into a half-frame. Father Panchanan Mondal prepares a string to indicate the end of the required curve at the sheer.
