Nafana mat weaver (deŋglɛ tinfun) Alexander Owusu sits on a chair outside his family house as he weaves a finishing pass on a narrow raffia mat (dɛŋglɛ) that he has made to demonstrate his weaving techniques. Unwoven strands (pinde) drape outward from the mat's working edge as he weaves. Its woven section is wrapped onto a palm petiole stick (gbandaa kaan) that rests on his left thigh to stabilize the working edge as he weaves. Sabiye, Banda District, Ghana.
