Adding handle and modelled decoration to a jar (yang) in Yang Tao village (Also, fashioning of small bowl (uk lông)

When the jar (yang) is dry enough to be handle without being distorded, Yo Khoanh adds four handle to it. First she takes out some fresh clay from the bottom of the roasting pan drying in from of her. She takes off a certain amount of clay at the place where she wants the handle to connect with the pot, by pinching the surface of the pot and digging it with her fingers. She creats like that two holes that do not go completely through the pot. Then, she places fresh clay to fill and connect those holes and gives it the shape of the handle. In the background, we can see Mai Kim fashioning a small bowl (uk lông). Then she goes to get some tools for Yo Khoanh : a small and regular stick of bamboo. In the meantime, Yo Khoanh modells a lizard (kuôn mban). We talk about the decorations. Finally, she takes the bamboo stick and inserts it in the middle of the handle to create a hole. The handles are called “tôr dlah”, “ear of the pot”. She then makes a second lizard.
