Fashioning cooking pots in Thanh Hà village : preparing coils 2/2

Nguyễn Thị Bê prepares the coils and patties. She uses both hands to roll a piece of clay on the board. She uses several actions to make it an even long cylinder: Flipping the coil around, pulling out the ends end placing them back on the new ends, rolling, pushing the clay from one end to the other. Alternating these actions, she creates a coil 50cm long for 6-7cm diameter that she places down on a board on the floor, under her working board. This is the start of her working time : she forges ahead with her work. Later in the video, Nguyễn Thị Thủy sits in front of the wheel and prepares her workspace. Soon, Nguyễn Thị Bê will continue to prepare the patties and coils, while setting the wheel in motion with her right foot.<p></p>
