The pots are fired in an open fire. Ma Ly has placed the pots on a platform of firewood and put more firewood around in a teepee shape. She now lights the fire using straw on the side where the wind blows, to help the fire spead all around the structure. During the firing, the potter adds wood when necessary to completely cover the pots, so they will be evenly fired.

Title alt

Quá trình nung gốm làng Krăngọ : Nhóm lửa

Description alt

Temporality

Firing is usually done at the end of the day, around 4PM, as the wind usually calms down at that time. The firing usually lasts 2 hours for a small firing. Large firing can last up to 6 hours. However, during our documentation, to prevent the firing to be too long, Ma Ly had prefired the bigger pots. Thus, the firing only took 45minuts.
