Laying damp paper on metal boards for drying in the sun. A stack with the water squeezed out is called a nama-kure. Using a kami-tsuke-take [a small piece of bamboo or even a wooden chopstick with a wire on the end], the edges of each sheet are very carefully lifted, and then each sheet is taken by hand gently and placed on a drying board, then with great dexterity scraped on with a brush or [camelia] leaf. Narrow strips of pink plastic have been laid between each sheet during the papermaking process. These now perform their function in aiding the papermaker in separating the sheets for drying, and are now lifted and removed
