Preforming on leather hard clay in Yang Tao village : preforming the bottom of a cooking pot (dlah pay)

Mai Kim sits on the floor with her legs stretched out and crossed in front of her. She put the pot on her legs and, with her right hand inside, she slightly pushes the bottom out, using her left hand as a support on the outside. She pushes it to be round, the centre being pushed around 1-2cm away. When it is pushed enough, she puts it upside down on the floor and starts scratching the outside with the tip of her fingers dipped in water. She first starts to scratch the outer part of the bottom, to spread off the square angle remaining from the roughing out. Then, she scrapes the rest of the bottom surface to regularise it and fill the cracks that appeared on the outer surface of the bottom while pushing from the inside. She sometimes spreads some clay that she scraped out to even the surface. When the pot is regular enough, she smoothes it with water and her fingers.
