To preform the bottom, Y Gah sits in front of the house with the pot on her knees, the opening facing her left. She has already scraped the edges of the pot to give it a round shape. She is now pushing out the bottom with her left hand en the inside. At the same time, she uses her right hand’s fingers to scrape the bottom from the outside to erase the cracks created by the pushing. She also adds a bit of clay, to fill in the gaps and make the surface more even. After ward, she uses her scraper, called kong, a ring of around 5cm in diameter made of a thin slice of bamboo, to regularise the edges of the pot.
