Processing clay in Phù Mỹ village 3/3 : kneading the clay

The clay has been turned into powder, sieved and re-humidified. It now has the form of balls about 30 cm in diameter with a very light and soft texture, to let the clay absorb the water. When all the clay has absorb water (we can see the balls have very few light spots), Nguyễn Tấn Ánh kneads the clay he places it on a plastic sheet and steps on it to spread it. When the clay is flattened, he takes one corner of the plsstic sheet and uses it to fold the clay on itself. He repeats these steps until the clay is smooth and homogeneous, then wraps it in plastic sheets for later use. On this video, he kneads the clay with ashes, which, as they explain, is specific to make braziers (of all sizes).
