The powdered clay has been left to sit with water under a plastic sheet for a few hour, so that the water is absorbed by the clay. However, the water is not equally distributed in the clay: some parts are soaked and other are still dry. While Võ Thị Sương takes some dry powdered clay, mixes it with the humid clay and rolls them into balls of around 30cm in diameter. At the same time, her husband, Giang Ngọc Xanh, carries the balls away, piles them up and wraps them on plastic sheets to let them rest until the next day.
