Stipo takes a lump of clay and flattens it, then he puts some sand as a separator on one side and places it on the wheel. He then flattens it. Next he takes long pieces of rolled clay and builds up the sides of the vessel. He uses his other hand to rotate the wheel. Stipo shapes the vessel and adds the thumb impressions on the rim. He then places it on a board to dry and starts on the next one. Richard Calton puts away the pot to dry.
