Taking out clay on the riverbank during the dry season in Yang Tao village : interview

Along the river bank, there are already some holes where the potters usually take the clay. Yo Khoanh and Mai Kim use a long stick with a metallic pike in one end, called phal. They poke holes in the soil to dislodge chunks of clay. When they have dislodged a certain amount of clay, they pick it up and put it in a large basket called sah sok uk (lit. basket to take clay).
